Armor of Prayer Pt 3

Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions

By praying, we put trust in God, not ourselves, and power is taken away from the Enemy to tempt us and discourage us. Each day, clothe yourself with the armor of God through prayer.

Daily Prayer: Each morning, read Ephesians 6:11-18, praying through the verses asking God to be your strength and comfort.

Prayer Exercise 1: Write out your prayer plan for the week. Read Mark 1:35  if you need a refresher on how Jesus encouraged us to do this.

Prayer Exercise 2: Read Ephesians 6:10-13, 16. Roman soldier’s carried shields that were made of wood and canvas, then doused in water to protect them from flaming arrows. They were also used as a weapon. Sketch this imagery out. On the shield, write down ways that faith is a shield. On the fiery arrows, write out ways that the enemy tries to attack you. Praise God for faith, and pray that the Lord protects you from the evil one.

Shield of Faith – Read Romans 4:18-21, Daniel 3, and 6, and Hebrews 11. Describe the faith stories in these passages. How could these characters have dismayed, instead of having faith? What hope does this give you? What does God do through faith?

Strength in Numbers – Read Eph. 4:11-13, Hebrews 12:1-15. When Roman soldiers would fight, they would join their shields together when attacked to strengthen their ranks. How is faith strengthened in numbers? What does your faith community look like?

Flaming Arrow Extinguishers- Read 2 Cor. 2:10-11, 1 Pet. 5:6-10, and Romans 12:21. How is Satan overcome?

Prayer Exercise 3 – List out your praises, confessions, and prayer requests. Then, read 1 John 5:3-5. Finally, write a response to God after reading this passage.
