Armor of Prayer Pt 4

Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions

The helmet is a non-negotiable piece of armor. This week in prayers, take up your helmet and see God’s gift of salvation and protection over you.

Daily Prayer: Each morning, read Ephesians 6:11-18, praying through the verses asking God to be your strength and comfort.

Prayer Exercise 1: Write out your prayer plan for the week. Read Mark 1:35  if you need a refresher on how Jesus encouraged us to do this.

Prayer Exercise 2: Read Ephesians 6:10-13, 17. A helmet is the piece of armor that needs the least explanation because it’s the most obvious piece of protection. What are the functions of helmet? What do you suppose this has to do with daily prayer?

Helmet – Read 1 Peter 1:3-12. What does a helmet have to do with salvation?

…of salvation – Read Eph. 2:8, Romans 5:6-10, 6:23, & Acts 2:38. What is salvation? How is it attained?

Function: protect the noggin (mind)- Read 1 Thes. 5:1-11. What does it mean to be of the day? What sort of character traits does that include? How does a helmet and prayer keep you “of the day”?

Function: protect vision- Read Phil. 3:12-4:1. What does it mean to you to be “cross eyed”? How does prayer act as a helmet? How is salvation a helmet?

Prayer Exercise 3 – Find a map of your neighborhood if you have a lot of friends in it, or a map of Minnesota or the US, depending on where your family lives. Mark the areas of the locations you know these people live. Write out the ways you know these people need prayer, then spend time praying for each. This is called prayer mapping!
