Life|Love
1 John 2:28-3:10

The Father’s love is amazing, that he would regard sinners like us as his own children!  This is a gift that brings us into a family, where being an obedient child is just a way of life.

 Daily Prayer:  Father, thank you for making us your obedient children through your Son, Jesus.  Keep us far from the devil and his deception, by guiding us on the path of love.  Amen.

Monday, May 4
Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verses 28-29Why would someone be ashamed when Jesus returns?  What is the connection between Christ’s righteousness and our righteousness?  For more see Romans 3:21-31.

Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verse 1Why is it such an honor to be considered the children of God?  What kind of love did it take for us to be adopted as children?  For more see Ephesians 2:1-10.

Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verses 2-3What will we be someday that we are not yet?   When will this happen?  What do we do in the meantime?  For more see 2 Corinthians 4:7-18.

Thursday, May 7
Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verses 4-6What is the difference between “sinning” and “making a practice of sinning?”  According to verses 5-6, what is the natural response of someone who has had their sin taken away by Jesus?  For more see John 8:31-38.

Friday, May 8
Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verses 7-8What is “righteousness?”  Is it something the world defines? Individuals?  What are the works of the devil?  Is there a middle ground between true righteousness and the works of the devil? For more see John 8:39-59.

Saturday, May 9
Read 1 John 2:28-3:10.  Focus on verses 9-10.   John says that it is evident who the Christians are by their practice of righteousness.  What about all the “good people” out there who don’t believe in Jesus?  For more, see Matthew 7:15-20.
