GodSpeak – “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” – December 3-8

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Monday, December 3     “O come, O come, Emmanuel”
Read Isaiah 7:10-14 and Matthew 1:18-25 God uses a situation in Isaiah’s day to predict the coming of Jesus. Immanuel means “God with us.” Think of all the ways God is with you on a daily basis. How much more is Jesus “God with us?”

Tuesday, December 4     ”O come, Thou Wisdom from on high”
Read Proverbs 1:1-7 and 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. Wisdom is knowing and living according to the order of God’s creation. How is Jesus our “Wisdom from on high?”

Wednesday, December 5     “O come, Thou Branch of Jesse’s tree”
Read Isaiah 11. Jesse is the father of King David, who was promised in 2 Samuel 7:13 to have an everlasting kingdom. How is Jesus the “Branch of Jesse’s tree?” How is this kingdom an everlasting kingdom?

Thursday, December 6     “O come, Thou Key of David”
Read Isaiah 22:22 and Matthew 16:13-19. What is the purpose of having keys? The one who has the keys has great power to include or exclude. How is Jesus the “Key of David?” Do we have use of that key too?

Friday, December 7     “O come, Thou Dayspring from on high”
Read Isaiah 9:2-7. Have you ever been kept awake all night? Sometimes it seems like the sun will never come up. How is Jesus like the sunrise? What comes along with the sun?

Saturday, December 8     “And be Thyself our King of Peace”
Read Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:5-17. What conflict do you have in your life? How sweet is it when those conflicts resolve in peace! What conflicts has the King of Peace resolved? How are people to know of the peace that is there for them?
