Psalm 67
We are blessed by God more than we can ever know. One of the greatest challenges we have is to be ungrateful for the blessings that God gives without us ever asking. Use this psalm to change that.
Daily Prayer: Thank you God for blessing me. Fill me with gratitude for all you do and fill me with contagious praise. Amen.
Monday, July 20
Read Psalm 67. This is not a personal psalm. It is the song of a community. List in your own words what the community desires of God in this psalm. What does your church community desire of God? How do you express that together?
Tuesday, July 21
After reviewing Psalm 67, read Numbers 6:22-27. How does God “bless” us and “keep” us? Name a few ways in which you are blessed and kept by God. What’s the difference between his face “shining” upon us and being turned away from us? What is God’s peace?
Wednesday, July 22
After reviewing Psalm 67, read Ephesians 1:1-14. Paul speaks of blessing in the beginning of his book to the church in Ephesus. How have we been blessed through Jesus? How is that consistent with the psalm and with the blessing from Numbers?
Thursday, July 23
After reviewing Psalm 67, read Matthew 28:16-20 and Acts 1:1-11. In the psalm, the community desires the nations to be glad and sing for joy. These may not all be worshippers of Yahweh! Why is it important for us to keep our focus outward to the nations?
Friday, July 24
After reviewing Psalm 67, read Psalm 96. We have a God who made everything good, working together perfectly. When humanity fills this world with hate, violence and greed, God rightfully judges those things to be destructive and harmful. Why is that a cause for celebration?
Saturday, July 25
After reviewing Psalm 67, read 1 Corinthians 3. Just as the earth yields its increase, so the Kingdom of God yields its increase. How does Paul describe the growth of the Kingdom? What part are you in the process?
