Martin Luther is known primarily for nailing the 95 theses onto the All Saints Church doors in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517. Over the next couple of weeks, learn from Luther and see how what he did reflects Christ and propels us to do the same.
Daily exercise and prayer: Find the lyrics to “A Mighty Fortress is our God.” Reflect on and pray through the first 2 verses.

Read Romans 12. Luther challenged the Catholic Church by nailing the Theses onto the church doors. What he did is actually sanctioned in the Bible and encouraged. How? How are we called to do the same, and how do we carry that out (hint: Read Joshua 1:8)?

Read Romans 10. The Bible is the number one best seller, and has been for a long time. But imagine not being able to read it in your own language. That was a reality for most of the population who worshipped in the Catholic Church: the Bible was written in Latin, and only reserved for priests (not even many monks) to read! According to this Romans passage, how was this so wrong? How would this make you feel?

Read Acts 8:26-40. Philip, a follower of Jesus, was able to explain scripture in a way that an Ethiopian could understand. One of Luther’s most profound acts of faith was to translate the Latin Bible into the language of the common man at that time: German. Because of this, YOU are able to read the Bible in your own language – even on your own phone! How does this make you feel? How does God use this to empower you daily?
