GodSpeak – Acts 1 – April 9-14

Acts 1

Luke continues his letter to Theophilus, detailing how God’s work through His Son Jesus would change the world forever. The witness of Jesus would spread from Jerusalem to Judea, to Samaria and to the ends of the earth. The Kingdom of God has come.

Monday, April 9     Read Acts 1:1-11. Jesus tells his disciples that they will be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. A witness is someone who testifies to what they have seen. What have you seen God do in your life that you witness to?

Tuesday, April 10      Read Acts 1:12-26. In order to replace the seat of Judas, vs. 26 tells us that the disciples “cast lots”. See Proverbs 16:33. This is the last recorded time in Scripture that the disciples use this method to know God’s will. Why?

Wednesday, April 11     After reviewing Acts 1, read Daniel 7:13-14. In Acts 1:3 we read that for about forty days after his resurrection, Jesus spent time with his disciples talking about the kingdom of God. What do these verses tell us about that coming kingdom?

Thursday, April 12     After reviewing Acts 1, read Revelation 1:1-8. How many different names for Jesus can you pick out in these verses. What does each one tell us about our Savior?

Friday, April 13     After reviewing Acts 1, read Mark 16:14-20. This passage is Mark’s account of Jesus commissioning his disciples to take up his mission to all creation. The Good News is not limited to one group or race, but is to be shared by all. Meditate on this.

Saturday, April 14     After reviewing Acts 1, read 1 Corinthians 15:1-22. This gem of teaching that has blessed the Church for years came about because of heresy in Corinth. See vs. 1, Even Christians need to be reminded of the Gospel!
