Acts 9

In our readings this week, we witness Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. God takes the chief persecutor of His Church and gives him and new mission, His mission.

Monday, June 4     Read Acts 9:1-19. While Saul was “still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples” God transformed him. God seems to delight in calling the least likely in our eyes to do his work. Do you regularly pray for others to be transformed by God’s presence?

Tuesday, June 5     Read Acts 9:20-43. When the disciples heard that Saul wanted to join them, they couldn’t believe it. While their skepticism is understandable, do we sometimes doubt that God could transform even the most anti-Christian people?

Wednesday, June 6     After reviewing Acts 9:1-43, Read Mark 13:1-36. Jesus shares the signs of the end of the age with his disciples. For what purpose does Jesus warn them?

Thursday, June 7     After reviewing Acts 9:1-43, Read 1 Samuel 3:1-21. How are we to respond to the calling of the Lord? Samuel gives us a great example. What is his response to God’s calling? What is Eli’s response to God’s revelation?

Friday, June 8      After reviewing Acts 9:1-43, Read 2 Corinthians 11:16-33. In our Acts reading, the Lord says to Ananias “I will show him [Paul] how much he must suffer for my name”. What all has Paul suffered?

Saturday, June 9      After reviewing Acts 9:1-43, Read Galatians 1:1-24. Paul recounts his calling to the church in Galatia. Why does he feel the need to recount his story to them?
