GodSpeak – In Christ Alone – October 8-13

In Christ Alone

Monday, October 8     “In Christ alone my hope is found” “this Cornerstone”
Read Ephesians 2:13-22. Paul revels in the awesome work of reconciliation in Christ. What does it mean for you to sing that he is your light, strength and song?

Tuesday, October 9     “In Christ alone who took on flesh”
Read John 1:1-18. God became a creature so that he could save his creation. What does it mean for you to know that God experienced life as we know it?

Wednesday, October 10     “fullness of God in helpless babe”
Read Colossians 2:1-10. See vs. 9-10. What “fullness” do you have in your life because the “fullness of the Deity” came in a helpless babe?

Thursday, October 11     “Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied”
Read Matthew 27. “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” The wrath of God is satisfied. Reflect on what Christ alone has spared you from experiencing.

Friday, October 12     “And as He stands in victory Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,”
Read 1 Corinthians 15. The curse of sin is death. What has loosened its grip on us? Why is it so important for us to believe in our own physical resurrection?

Saturday, October 13     “No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand;”
Read John 10:22-30. Jesus gives us that assurance as our Good Shepherd. When in your life does this mean the most to you? When times are good… or bad?

In Christ Alone by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
’til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand
