GodSpeak – Matthew 5:13-20 – March 25-30

Disciple (n./v.): The Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 5:13-20

Jesus speaks to his disciples about what it means to be a part of His kingdom, the kingdom of heaven. These words challenge us to live a different life, a life where we make a difference.

Monday, March 25
Read Matthew 5:13-20. Be salty. Be bright. Do the right thing. What makes us salty? What makes us bright? Are things changing or are they the same? Could it be both?

Tuesday, March 26
After reviewing Matthew 5:13-20, read Ephesians 5:1-21 Having known the darkness, but walking in the light, “be imitators of God…” Why is it so important to be “careful how you live?” What’s at stake?

Wednesday, March 27
After reviewing Matthew 5:13-20, read 1 Peter 2:1-12. Often we isolate verses 9-10 because they speak of what God has done for us. What is the context for these verses? What is Peter encouraging the people to do?

Thursday, March 28
After reviewing Matthew 5:13-20, read John 19:28-30 & Revelation 21:1-8. What is “finished?“ What is “done?” Has the Law been fulfilled? If so, what does that mean for us?

Friday, March 29
After reviewing Matthew 5:13-20, read Matthew 12:1-8. Is Jesus going against what he told us in 5:18? Is Jesus talking about the letter of the law or the spirit of the law? Why is that distinction so important?

Saturday, March 30
After reviewing Matthew 5:13-20, read Philippians 3. Paul has every reason to boast, but considers it nothing compared to the gift of God’s grace. What is Paul’s response to the grace of God?
