Tuesday, October 16 “Glory to God in the Highest” Read Luke 2:1-20. The angels declared God’s glory in this way when Jesus humbled himself to live among us. When do you declare God’s glory? Why?
Wednesday, October 17 “Alleluia!” Read Psalms 148, Psalm 149 & Psalm 150. The word “alleluia” literally means “praise Yahweh” or “praise God.” According to these Psalms, what do we praise God for? How and when do you praise God?
Thursday, October 18 “Holy, holy, holy” Read Isaiah 6:1-8 and Matthew 21:1-11. The word “holy” means “set apart.” In Hebrew culture you say it twice if you really mean it, three times for the greatest emphasis. How holy is God? What does it mean for us to truly believe that?
Friday, October 19 “Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world” Read John 1:19-42. At the Passover a lamb was sacrificed so God’s people could live. John calls Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Why do you think we sing this right before Communion?
Saturday, October 20 “my eyes have seen Your salvation” Read Luke 2:21-40. When Simeon sees the baby Jesus it’s as if the salvation of all people has already been accomplished. We sing his words at the end our worship. What has been accomplished? What happens after we’re done with worship?
