Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions

Jesus’ love doesn’t say “clean yourself up before coming to me,” but rather, “let me come to you to wash you clean and love you.”Because Jesus is gentle and loving, we want to follow Him.   Daily Prayer: Pray through Psalm 103.

Monday, Dec 19
Read Luke 1:46-55. This passage is known as the “Magnificat”. God loves to undertake for the underdog. How does this show God’s love? How does Mary respond to that love?

Tuesday, Dec 20
Read Isaiah 40. God rules with a strong hand and feeds with the kind hand of a shepherd. What does this description reveal about who God is? What do the “who…” questions in some of these verses indicate about God’s power and greatness?

Wednesday, Dec 21
Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. How does the Lord give us strength to endure when we’re worn physically, spiritually, and emotionally? How have you felt God’s love recently? Make a list of the different ways how or of the different people whom God has shown you love through.

Thursday, Dec 22
Read Micah 5:2-4 & John 10:1-18. Jesus is the promised shepherd who guards our lives and gathers us into His loving arms. What comfort do you have in this? Why is His Will that we would have life to the full?

Friday, Dec 23
Read Romans 5:1-6. What does it mean that you’ve been justified? How does this verse tie into the Christmas story?

Saturday, Dec 24
Read John 1:1-14. A rough, modern translation of vs. 14 is that Jesus pitched His tent and stayed with us. What love do you see in this passage? How is this the ultimate Christmas message for you today?
