Read Hebrews 1. How did God speak to His people? Who is Jesus, according to the reading? Notice that the author pulls from the Old Testament. Find these readings in their contexts (look at the footnotes of your Bible). Who are they talking about in the Old Testament? Who are they talking about in Hebrews?

Read Isaiah 48:12-13 & Mark 14:61-64. The Right Hand of God=a symbol of faith and worship in Israel for God’s power in action. What does Jesus say of Himself, then?

Read Hebrews 11. Here’s an exercise for you! As you read about each Old Testament figure, list the similar actions of Jesus. For example, look at verse 19. Who else do we know who was sacrificed by His Father and brought back to life?

Read Philippians 2:1-11.There is a unity that exists between all Christians. Name these characteristics that the author goes through. Find examples in the Gospels that show Christ doing these things. For example, Christ was not concerned with His own interests. When were times that He showed that?

Read Genesis 1:1, 1:26, and John 1. In Genesis 1:1, the word for “God” is Elohim in Hebrew. The word is actually plural! What does God say in v. 26? This shows evidence of the existence of the Trinity present at creation. Genesis 1 & 2 show a perfect creation with Christ present. Why would John write his Gospel to sound so much like Genesis 1?
