“ Come and Listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me” Psalm 66:16
The psalmist invites others to come and listen as he recounts what God has done for him. As Christians, we are called to be Christ’s witnesses. There are many scriptures that encourage and even command us to share our stories of what God has done in our lives. Here is one of my favorites from 2 Corinthians 5:
“He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
Have you ever wondered why? Why doesn’t God leave the witnessing to the people who are “trained” or “gifted” in “evangelism”? Why is it part of everyone’s Christian life to share the story of who God’s been in their life? The reason God wants us to share the story of our faith is because the story is His! It is not “my story”, it is truly God’s! He’s the one who is active in your life. He is the one who’s transforming you.
The story belongs to God and so do you. The most powerful witness in this world is the story of God’s work in your life. By sharing our lives with others, the Word of God can be seen plainly and brought to life right before our eyes. Many people you meet may never come to worship or a Bible study, but they will listen to your witness of how God has changed your life!
The first step is to share the story with other believers. We’d love to have you share as a WaterLife guest on Sunday morning. That is a great way to hear what God’s done in the lives of our community of faith. If that frightens you, remember, it’s God’s story. Who can God bless through you?
There are many ways to share what God’s done in your life. Share the story with a friend or family member. Write it down and mail it to someone. Whatever you do, let someone know that God loves them!
