God, Our Father

In the familiar story of the prodigal son, the young man was not satisfied to be in his father’s house with all of his needs met. He wanted more. He believed the lie that something more exciting was in store for him if he went away from his father.

Is it not how we sometimes behave even as Christians? We sometimes think that God is holding out on us, that there is something better than a close relationship with our Heavenly  father. The world has more excitement and fulfillment to offer us than God. But this is not true. By thinking this way and then acting on it whether we go as far away as the prodigal son or not, we create our own desperate circumstances.

Then we turn back to God, crying out for deliverance and forgiveness. Fortunately, Our Father in Heaven always hears our cries. But we must repent the sins we have committed. Wouldn’t it have been far better to have avoided it in the first place?

Do not ever, ever think Satan’s way is better than God’s way. No, it is not.
