GodSpeak – Acts 11 – June 18-23

Acts 11

In our readings this week, some of the Jewish believers are surprised that the Gospel transforms Greeks as well. We find that all people can experience repentance that leads to life.

Monday, June 18     Read Acts 11:1-18. After hearing Peter’s story of the Spirit being poured out on Gentile believers, the Jewish believers living in Jerusalem marveled “even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life”. What is “repentance that leads to life”?

Tuesday, June 19     Read Acts 11:19-30. Sometimes God works in places that we wouldn’t expect. Have you ever seen or heard of God transforming someone that surprised you?

Wednesday, June 20     After reviewing Acts 11:1-30, Read John 5:31-45. In verse 38, Jesus accuses his listeners of refusing to come to him and have life. What does Jesus mean by “life”? Life on this earth? Eternal life?

Thursday, June 21     After reviewing Acts 11:1-30, Read Psalm 51:1-19.  This famous penitential psalm (psalm of repentance) was written by David after he was rebuked for committing adultery with Bathsheba. How does this psalm help us understand “repentance that leads to life”?

Friday, June 22     After reviewing Acts 11:1-30, Read 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. Paul refers to the Spirit as a deposit from God. What does he mean by that?

Saturday, June 23     After reviewing Acts 11:1-30, Read Romans 6:1-23. Repentance leads to life. Where does Paul say that sin leads?
