Dear Members of Bethel Lutheran Church,
As you know, on December 29, 2013 Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault, MN called me to be their Senior Pastor. Over the last three weeks my family and I have sought God’s guidance in choosing whether to remain at Bethel in St. Paul or to accept the call to Trinity in Faribault. This time of deliberation has been more challenging than we ever anticipated. It has taught us to pray and to seek the will of God like never before. We deeply appreciate everyone who prayed for us and shared their thoughts with us. As we prayed for God’s guidance on which path to take, we could only find peace in the path that carries on the work that God has begun through Bethel in the Twin Cities. Therefore, I have decided to decline the call to Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault and remain the Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Please keep our Faribault brothers and sisters in your prayers as they continue to seek a Senior Pastor. Their warmth, humility and openness made this decision all the more difficult. It breaks my heart to disappoint such wonderful people of God.
