Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions

Abraham was to be a blessing to all, an instrument of redemption in a dark time, and the father of many nations. See how Jesus was the fulfillment, and how we belong to the seed of Abraham through Him.

Daily Prayer: Pray through Psalm 67.

Monday, June 13
Read Genesis 11 & Galatians 4:4. Babylonian culture and Roman culture threatened the people of God. What humanity seemed intent on wrecking, God opened a mission. What was that mission? Who carried out these missions?

Tuesday, June 14
Read Gen. 12:1-9 & Matthew 28:16-20. In v. 1-3, we have a poetic duel command. “Go… be a blessing.” Think back to Gen. 1:1-3 and Gen. 11. These are both times shrouded in darkness. What is mission does God give Abram? Abraham could not be the agent of blessing, but rather instrumental to it. Who is the agent of blessing? What similar mission does Jesus give His disciples?

Wednesday, June 15
Read Romans 4:1-25, Philippians 2:6-11, & Hebrews 11:8-10. In Gen 12:1, we saw that Abram was to leave all that was familiar to follow God. Who else did that? Why? What was credited to each?

Thursday, June 16
Read Gen. 17, Isaiah 9:6, and Philippians 2:12-18. Here we see a covenant with Abraham. He was to be the Father of many nations. How is Jesus, then, the fulfillment of this covenant? How is He the true and better Abraham?

Friday, June 17
Read Gal. 3:26-29, Matthew 8:5-13, & John 8:31-41. Who is the goal of the Bible, & who does it flow through? What is the significance, then, to all nations?

Saturday, June 18
Read Romans 4:16-17 & 5:12-21. What does Paul connect? Who is the triumph available to?
