Ash Wednesday Sermon: “Difference Making Discipleship”

Ash Wednesday, March 9, 2011
We put ashes on our foreheads because it’s tradition.  Wrong.  We put ashes on our foreheads because it symbolizes our humanity and our mortality.  We put ashes on our foreheads in the shape of the cross because of Jesus’ sacrifice for humanity and exchanging our mortality for His.  Listen to how these realities can turn us into Difference Making Disciples.
Readings: Joel 2:12–19, 1 Peter 2:20-25, Matt. 6:1–6, 16–21
