Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions
While Adam is the first man in the old creation according to flesh, Christ is the first in the new creation, according to His resurrection.
Daily Prayer: Lord, let us live as people reflecting the New Adam: full of life and love.
Monday, May 23
Read Genesis 1:26-2:25. “Adam” in Hebrew means “humankind”. Who was Adam? Fall in love with the intimacy of God and Man before the fall. What does the “likeness of God” look like? How was Adam made to be? What was he made to do?
Tuesday, May 24
Read Genesis 3. Who was Adam before the fall? Who is Adam after? What does he represent?
Wednesday, May 25
Re-read Genesis 3:8 and 3:15. When does God fulfill His promise in v. 15? How is intimacy achieved today like v. 8?
Thursday, May 26
Read Genesis 1:28-31 & Luke 8:22-56. What dominion does Adam have? What dominion does Christ then have? Compare the Old Adam and the New Adam’s headships.
Friday, May 27
Read Romans 5 & 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, 45, 50-58. The Old Adam was the head of creation according to the flesh. What did he bring with that? What made the New Adam, Christ, the opposite? What is He head of? What does that mean for us? (Hint: think of death v. resurrection).
Saturday, May 28
Read Mark 14:32-42. Think back to Adam’s temptation in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3). How does Jesus show Himself to be the true, better Adam in the Garden of Gethsemane?
