Scenes from Revelation – A Lamb in the Throne Room
A lamb enters the throne room of God and the multitudes erupt in praise.
Daily Prayer: Lamb of God, reign in my life that I might love like you. Amen.
Monday, April 4
Read Revelation 4:1-6a. This isn’t a literal picture of God’s throne room, but instead a collection of symbols describing many facets of something beyond words. What might these symbols be telling us?
Tuesday, April 5
Read Revelation 4:6b-11. Numbers also hold symbolic meaning. 12 tribes/disciples, 4 directions on a compass, 3 for the Trinity, 7=God (3) on the earth (4). What is happening around the throne of God?
Wednesday, April 6
Read Isaiah 6:1-8. Here is another throne room scene. What similarities or differences do you see from Rev. 4? For another, see Ezekiel 1.
Thursday, April 7
Read Revelation 5:1-5. The scroll represents the last chapter of history. Why is it such a sad thing that no one can open the seals? What hope is offered?
Friday, April 8
Read Revelation 5:6-14. Read carefully the description of the lamb. Who ends up singing praise for the one worthy to open the scroll?
Saturday, April 9
Read 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. Paul says that “Jesus must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet.” How does Rev. 5 show the beginning of that reign?
