Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions
God has gifted us open communication with him by means of prayer. Intimidating? Exciting? Talking to God can seem to be either of these things! Relax in His truth: that He loves you and wants to hear from you.
Daily Prayer: Lord, let us see how you have called us to dwell daily in your great love.
Read Mark 1:35. Jesus had a certain plan, place, and time to pray. He was intentional about connecting with God. Write out a plan for your week: When will you spend intentional time in prayer? Where? How long? What will you be intentional about praying for? If you have a family, plan time for your own individual prayer time and for family prayers too.
Read Matthew 6:9-13 (The Lord’s Prayer). Focus on verse 9 this week. Think about how we can connect with God relationally and how we can worship His name through prayer.
Read Romans 8:15 & Proverbs 18:10. The word, “Abba” translates to “daddy.” What does our relationship look like with God?
Prayer Exercise 1: Go through the alphabet and think of names or descriptions of God that start with each letter. Make it personal! As you think of names, think of reasons why you give Him these names. Praise God in prayer through this list. Example prayer: “God, you are Amazing because… you are Bountiful in this way… you are so Creative!…”
Prayer Exercise 2: Read 1 John 1:1-10. Sketch or write down parts of this passage that struck you. Let God speak to you through His Word. Pray through this passage. For example, “Lord, help me to walk in the light…” “Father, I confess these sins to you…” and “Thank you Lord, that Your Word is in us.”
