Prayer Journaling

Daily Devotional/Group Discussion Questions

As we’ve gone through this GodSpeak series, we have seen many ways to pray and have experienced time with our Father in conversation. Want to continue a prayerful lifestyle? One way to help you do so is with a prayer journal. Find a blank journal to start this! Each day this week, spend at least 5 minutes reading the suggested scripture, followed by 5 minutes in prayer using the chart guideline below, and finally find a worship song or hymn to listen to.

Spend 5 minutes each day reading:

Day 1: Psalm 130 and 37.

Day 2: Titus 2.

Day 3: Jude 1:20-25 and Lamentations 3:25-33.

Day 4: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 and  Zephaniah 3:14-17

Day 5: Habakkuk 3 and John 6.

Day 6: Romans 8

After reading, spend 5 minutes each day praying and journaling in the following format:

Today’s scripture showed me that God is (circle and write about any of the following):

Compassionate | Good | Faithful | Holy | Patient | Wise | Generous | Loving | Just | True | All-Knowing | All Powerful | Eternal | Gracious | Merciful | Faithful

Additional Prayer Exercise: Memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to prepare for spiritual attack. This week, pick a set of verses to memorize as a prayer in hard times. If you need a suggestion, try to memorize Colossians 1:15-20  (try memorizing the “Message” version of the Bible!) praying through each verse. What words move you? What does God say to you today?
