Sermon: Accept My Generosity

Sunday, October 4, 2009
Readings: Genesis 25:19-34, Romans 9:6-16, Matthew 16: 21-25
It is so difficult for us to simply accept someone’s generosity.  There is something inside us that urges us to somehow deserve, earn or participate in some way.  We see that clearly in our Old Testament lesson for today.  We also see how Jesus comes to give us a gift that is beyond our imagination.  We do nothing to desere, earn or participate in the gift.  Jesus gives it freely and says to us, “Accept my generosity.”
