Prayer and Praise

If all we do is to ask God for things we really want, then our prayers quickly become selfish.

Although the thought might shock us up, most especially when we begin to think of God as little more than a glorified Santa Claus to whom we turn only when we want something.

But I can tell right now God is far greater than that.

Remember, God is not our servant, we are His servants. And so true prayer begins by seeking God as He really is and that is why His praise should be a regular part of our prayers. When we praise God, our focus is on Him alone, not on ourselves. God welcomes our prayers. He is also much more concerned about our hearts. Every follower of Christ must pray and praise God.

Remember Psalm 34:1— I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
